Charcoal is a lightweight, black, carbon-rich material produced by heating wood or other organic substances in the absence of oxygen a process called pyrolysis. This removes water, volatile compounds, and other elements, leaving mostly carbon behind.

 Types of Charcoal:

1. Lump Charcoal – Made directly from hardwood; irregular in shape and burns hot and clean.
2. Charcoal Briquettes – Compressed from powdered charcoal, often with binders and additives for even burning.
