Clove stem
Clove stem
The clove stem refers to the part of the clove spice that connects the clove bud (the unopened flower) to the rest of the plant. Cloves come from the clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum), and what we commonly use as the spice is the dried flower bud, which consists of several parts, including the stem. Here's a description of the clove stem:
Description of Clove Stem:
* Color: Dark brown when dried.
* Shape: Cylindrical and slightly tapered, resembling a small nail.
* Length: Typically about 1 to 2 centimeters long.
* Texture: Hard and woody in texture.
* Function: In the fresh flower bud, the stem supports the flower head and connects it to the plant. When dried, it becomes part of the whole clove used in cooking and medicine.
* Position: Located beneath the bulbous top part (the four-pointed bud), the stem forms the "handle" of the clove's nail-like shape.
